Smith St... a smooth blend of electro, rock & hip hop
http://soundcloud.com/smithstreet
For me if a band were to encompass an Australian identity, Smith St is the Paul Hogan of hip hop. Laid back, uplifting and hard to pigeon hole, Smith St are new on the music scene but their music immedialey tells you these guys have raw talent. Having met the fellas a few times, you quickly come to realise that their musical interests dont stop at hip hop. if you listen to any of the 3 tracks on http://soundcloud.com/smithstreet you'll hear Dozer's dance beats, with a layer of lounge ambience, steered by grungy guitars, rock n rolling bass lines & Lexicon comes across like a mate sitting next to u at a BBQ, with always a hint of a cheeky smile and glint in the eye, his rhythem fits like a glove & Lexicons lyrics take you on a path of a uni student, nearing the end of a student life and walking into the unknown abyss of the so-called "real-life". The instrumental track Claudia, puts you into a trance one may feel in the middle of a doof doof after just getting bark-burn from hugging that talking tree for a little too long... Claudia makes you forget all about that burning feeling, instead it pours cool water all over you from head to toe soothing every inch of you...
I give Smith St 4/5... and thats only the snippets...
